Meet the Tribe

HomeMeet the Tribe

There’s a classic children’s book called “Are You My Mother?”, about a young bird that hatches while mama is away foraging for breakfast. The young bird immediately starts wandering around asking each animal it meets if they are his mother. It does have a happy ending! Anyone on a quest for more health and wholeness can relate to the need to find your tribe.

We started Livin Spoonful because we wanted to share this nurturing food with others who need an alternative to standard fare. At the time, we weren’t even thinking about being business people…we just needed to make some money so we could continue to make more good food. That was 2002, and like most people naturally would, we assumed the food was point of it all.

Our idea about being in business has evolved, and we still make some pretty nice food. It’s not hummus now, but it almost doesn’t matter. We’ve seen first hand the role intention plays in the big picture of wellness. Sure, all of us benefit from having fresh, organic food over conventional options. But there are a lot of companies that sell organic food, fresh food, sprouted food… We could easily get lost in the race to have the next big thing on the market…complete with a lot of hype in advertising to drive the point home.

We take a different approach. For us, the reason for being in business has grown to be more about connecting with our customers. None of us needs the next best thing, but we all need the right thing at the right time. The intention of our marketing is to help you get more clarity about what you really need, and whether or not our products can provide that. And the only way we know to achieve that is through old-fashioned customer service…one person at a time.

So it’s not so much about the food anymore. We love making delicious food to offer for sale…it does keep us going after all. But we love most that it gives us a convenient excuse to connect and grow our tribe…one person at a time. The next time you’re about to buy something, ask yourself if you want to be part of their tribe.

The people and companies on this page are all folks we’re proud to be associated with. Each of them has a unique way of  helping others to find what they need to thrive. May you find something here to make your tribe a friendlier place to call home.
